Marian Catholic High School is proud to announce the induction of two distinguished Marian families into the Class of 2026 Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the John P. Malarkey ’51 Gymnasium at Marian Catholic High School in Hometown.

Father Robert Finlan ’86, CBHS, Principal, stated, “We look forward to welcoming the Marian family together on Saturday, May 2nd as we honor two families whose dedication, service, and faith have helped shape the spirit and legacy of Marian Catholic High School.”

The two Marian families being inducted into the Hall of Fame for 2026 are:

John “Jack” and Anne Cannon and Family

P ’74, ’75, ’76 | GP ’95, ’97, ’04, ’05, ’06 | GGP ’27

Jack and Anne Cannon devoted more than 40 years of faithful service to Marian. Jack was one of the founders of the Men of Marian and proudly served as President of the organization. He also served on the Marian Advisory Board during the 1990s and early 2000s. Together, Jack and Anne were actively involved in every Men of Marian fundraiser and enthusiastically supported countless Marian activities while their children and grandchildren attended the school.

Jack graduated from Saint Ann’s High School in 1946, and Anne (Mulderick) Cannon graduated from St. Ann’s High School in 1950. They are the proud parents of three Marian graduates: Loretta Davis Cannon ’74, Deacon Joe Cannon ’75, and Catherine Cannon Watkins ’76.

They are the grandparents of Neal ’95, Joanne ’97, Bridget ’04, Kelly ’05, and John ’06, and the great-grandparents of Madeline ’27.

Jack worked at the Lansford Post Office from the age of 16 until his retirement. A founding member of the Men of Marian, he served the organization faithfully until his passing, holding numerous leadership roles including President. He was appointed to the first Marian Advisory Board by Principal John Malarkey. Jack also served as a lector and was among the first Eucharistic Ministers at St. Ann Parish in Lansford.

Anne was a devoted wife and mother who volunteered alongside her husband through the Men of Marian. She was employed under Title I in the Panther Valley School District as a Reading Aide.

Loretta Cannon Davis ’74, P ’95, ’97, GP ‘27 worked as an Administrative Assistant in Marian’s Main Office from March 1991 to July 2019. She also serves as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph of the Panther Valley.

Deacon Joe Cannon ’75, P ’04, ’05, ‘06 was among Marian’s first student athletic trainers. He is a member of the American Hose Company in Lansford and served as past Fire Chief. He was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 2015 and serves at St. Joseph of the Panther Valley.

Catherine Cannon Watkins ’76 began her career as a part-time Activities Assistant on the 5th floor of Miners Memorial in Coaldale and was later promoted to Activity Coordinator. She relocated to Virginia Beach to be closer to her daughter and currently serves as Activity Coordinator at an Alzheimer’s care facility.

The Cannon family was raised with a deep love of God, family, school, and service to others. From working football games at Lansford Stadium to volunteering at weekly bingos and Men of Marian picnics, they collectively devoted countless hours to Marian Catholic High School. The Cannon family expresses sincere gratitude to the committee for this meaningful recognition.

Joseph and Mary Dvorak and Family

P ’73, ’74, ’77, ’78, ’80, ’82, ’84, ’86, ’91 | GP ’03, ’05, ’25

The Dvorak family holds the record for the most children to attend and graduate from Marian — nine in total. Joseph and Mary Dvorak exemplify the model Marian parents. Although Joe has passed, Mary continues to carry forward their legacy through her steadfast support of Marian.

Their Marian graduates include: Joseph Dvorak ’73, Linda Dvorak ’74, John Dvorak ’77, Mary Dvorak Garzio ’78 (P ’03, ’05), Jeffrey Dvorak ’81, Jerome Dvorak ’82 (P ’25), Jene Dvorak ’84, Jude Dvorak ’86, and Catherine Dvorak Steffek ’91.

The Dvorak family’s legacy at Marian Catholic High School spans nearly six decades, two generations, and twelve alumni. For Joseph and Mary Dvorak of McAdoo, Catholic education was not simply a choice — it was a priority. They chose Marian to ensure their children’s education reflected the values taught at home: disciplined work ethic, strong moral character, and steadfast faith in God.

Mary Dvorak, now 95 years young, reflects “Joe and I knew it would be a sacrifice to send everyone to Marian, but one that was worth it. Reflecting on the accomplishments of our children and grandchildren, we know the education they received at Marian was an integral part of their success.”

Joseph, a United States Marine Corps World War II veteran and founder of JD Trucking, passed away in 1997.

Their collective accomplishments span education, entrepreneurship, the arts, small business ownership, banking, engineering, environmental science, skilled trades, and nonprofit leadership.

Joseph Dvorak ’73 holds a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from La Salle University and a professional certificate in painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He has dedicated his career to education at Holy Cross High School in Delran, NJ, where he teaches Theology and Art and serves as Arts Department Chair. He is married and has two sons.

Linda Dvorak ’74 attended Penn State University and built a professional career in the business sector. Though she passed away in 1987, her contributions remain an enduring part of the Dvorak family’s Marian legacy.

John Dvorak ’77 worked alongside his father to build JD Trucking Company and has successfully led the business for more than 40 years, contributing significantly to the local economy. He proudly operates the company with his wife.

Mary (Dvorak) Garzio ’78, P ’03, ’05 devoted over 40 years to cosmetology as a successful small business owner. She recently retired from Empire Education Group, where she served as an educator and recruiter. She is married, has two Marian alumna daughters, and five grandchildren.

Jeffrey Dvorak ’81 spent 20 years as a professional plumber after training at Pennsylvania College of Technology. He later joined JD Trucking as Lead Mechanic, contributing his technical expertise to the company’s continued success.

Jerome Dvorak ’82, P ’25 holds a B.S. dual degree in Management and Finance and from Juniata College. After a distinguished career in banking leadership, he now serves as Executive Director of the Bloomsburg University Foundation. He also supports Marian as a Board member and President of the Blue and Gold Club. He is married and the father of recent Marian graduate Julia.

Jene Dvorak ’84 earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He has designed and managed major projects in the cement and minerals industries across North and South America and Asia. He currently serves as Senior Project Engineer for GAF Materials Corporation. He is married and has four children.

Jude Dvorak ’86 earned a B.F.A. in Communication Design from Kutztown University. Over a 40-year career in visual storytelling, he has provided creative solutions through his independent firm, hey jude design, for clients including Bank of America, Sundance Channel, and AMC Networks. He is married and has one daughter.

Catherine (Dvorak) Steffek ’91 is a respected leader in higher education focused on developing innovative university programs nationwide. She holds a Bachelor’s degree and Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as an M.B.A. from Duquesne University. She is married and has two daughters.

The Dvorak legacy continues with their grandchildren.
