Recognizing long, faithful, and effective service and commitment as a Board member at the conclusion of a
member’s final term often is recognized by awarding the title and status of Board Member Emeritus.
Beyond recognition, the role or purpose of the position of Board Member Emeritus is to sustain, build and
steward significant philanthropic relationships with the person and others with whom they have worked with or
are affiliated. Another purpose served in that of “institutional memory” of a period in time that proves helpful

to current and future leaders of the school.
