Pat Reilly Re-Elected to Lead Marian Catholic High School Board of Directors; Welcomes Two New Board Members

Patrick Reilly, P ’98, ’02, ’11 of Jim Thorpe will once again serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Marian Catholic High School for the 2024-25 school year.  Reilly’s leadership comes at an important time as Marian continues to work on a new strategic vision focused on preserving and re-imaging Catholic education in Schuylkill, Carbon, and Luzerne counties for generations.


“I am humbled to share that I have been elected as Board Chair for the 2024-25 school year at Marian Catholic High School. It is truly an honor to work alongside our dedicated Board and represent them in this capacity. Our mission remains focused on ensuring that student success is at the forefront of all our decision-making processes,” said Mr. Reilly. 


Michael Brennan ‘06, the Head of School, expressed his gratitude for Pat’s dedication and expertise in finance and planning over the past two decades. “Pat's efforts have significantly contributed to the financial health of Marian, putting us in a strong position for the future. Together, we share a vision for the school and are committed to providing exceptional opportunities for our students,” Mr. Brennan noted. 


“The increasing quality of the Marian Board of Directors is truly impressive. With members from diverse disciplines such as law, finance, marketing, fundraising, and facilities, our Board is well-equipped to support Marian Catholic High School's long-term sustainability and viability. Michael Brennan’s leadership, along with his administrative team, lays a solid foundation for our school’s future,” Mr, Reilly concluded.


Dave Bielen ’69, P ’91, GP ’24 of Tamaqua, Vice Chair of the Board, emphasized his belief in the value of Catholic education and the importance of a faith-filled learning environment. “I am privileged to serve alongside such an extraordinary Board and look forward to contributing to the continued success of Marian Catholic High School,” said Mr. Bielen.


In addition to Reilly and Bielen, other officers for the 2024-25 school year are Sr. Rose Mulligan, IHM ’84 of Immaculata, PA as Secretary and Bill Stulginsky ‘69 of Newton Square, PA as Treasurer.

 

Committee Chairs for the 2024-25 school year are Leo Marzen ’79, Governance and Nominating Committee, Bill Stulginsky ’69, Finance Committee; Larry Furey ’79, Advancement Committee; Dave Bielen ’91 P ’91, GP ’24 Facilities Committee and Patrick Boyle ’03, Enrollment Management Committee. 

 

Marian Catholic High School is excited to announce the election of two new Directors to our Board of Directors.  The two new Directors are Shannon Boyle Pietrak ’95 of Houston, TX and Kathy Reinhart Goff ’87, P ’20, ‘23 of Jim Thorpe.

 

Shannon Boyle Pietrak ‘95

 

Shannon Boyle Pietrak is a 1995 graduate of Marian and a 1999 graduate of Villanova University with a degree in Chemical Engineering.  Shannon is a Senior Business Auditor for BP p.l.c. and resides in Houston, TX with her husband Mark and their two children.  Shannon is the daughter of John ’71 and Kathleen Boyle of Hometown and is one of five Boyle children to graduate from Marian- Meghan ’98, John ’02, Patrick ’03 and Meredith ’06.

 

Shannon started her career in the United States Army as an engineer officer stationed in both Germany and Iraq.  For the past 20 years, Shannon has worked in the oil and gas field, in major project roles, primarily with BP p.l.c.

 

"My parents made many sacrifices to provide the best education for my siblings and me. They knew that Marian would not only provide a great education but offer best in class athletics, opportunities to interact with students from different areas and combine it all with faith-based teaching. 

 

"My experiences at Marian were unbelievably great and I often reminisce about wanting to do them all over again. The pride I feel when telling people, I am an alumnus is incredible. 

 

"Marian taught me to always give back, and doing so at Marian is more than an honor”,  Pietrak concluded. 

 

Kathy Reinhart Goff ’87, P ’20, ‘23

 

Kathy Reinhart Goff, a member of the class of 1987, is a paraprofessional for the Lehighton Area School District. Kathy graduated cum laude from Kutztown University in 1991 with a BA in English. Kathy is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education from Wilkes University.

 

Kathy and her husband Jim, are the parents of two Marian graduates, Nicholas, Class of 2020 and Jenna, Class of 20023.  Kathy’s mother, Mary Ann (Watto) Reinhart, is a 1963 graduate of Mauch Chunk Catholic High School. 

 

“Marian is a special place for me. I have made lifelong friends here, and I am very proud that my children were the third generation of my family to attend. The education we all received was excellent preparation for future success, and it is my hope that many more students will have that experience. I am extremely honored to be elected to serve on the Board and excited to help guide the school into the next phase. It is important to me that Catholic education continues to have a strong presence in this area.”

 

“I am pleased to welcome these two outstanding individuals to the Board, said Reilly.  “Each of them has demonstrated a strong commitment to the school and a deep belief in our mission.  In addition, they bring broad professional experience and community involvement that will make Marian even stronger.  That combination provides enhanced perspective and valuable leadership for the school.”

Marian Catholic High School opened in September 1954 and has graduated more than 8,000 students, now living in all 50 states and abroad.  The school also calls alumni from the four predecessor high schools, Saint Ann’s High School in Lansford, Saint Mary’s High School in Coaldale, Saint Jerome’s High School in Tamaqua, and Mauch Chunk Catholic High School in Jim Thorpe as its own.

 

Marian Catholic High School opened its 71st school year in September with an enrollment of 283 students in grades nine to twelve.
